As I mentioned, the New York skyline is very different and confusing to
look at, but not just from the New Jersey vantage point. Many people
used the twin towers for a sense of direction. Personally, whenever I
came off a subway, if my directions were mixed up I would look around
for the towers. Other people I spoke to who live in the city would
use the towers to quickly gauge the weather.
