Donations of food, clothing supplies and almost everything
imaginable were rushed to the rescue workers at ground zero
almost immediately. Liberty State Park, directly across the river from
the WTC was set up as a supply station for donations to be
transported to the rescue workers. New Jersey residents responded
in great numbers with supplies. Throughout New Jersey many locations
were set up as collection points then everything was transported to
Liberty State Park. Perhaps the same was happening near you.
In New York City, several places were set up as collation points
as well. However the supply of donations was so overwhelming
that by September 17, 2001 most places were turning away donations
of supplies, in favor of donations to one of the relief funds and charities.
